History of SGA Gdynia

SGA Gdynia is an important part of the history of rhythmic gymnastics in Gdynia. In 2026, the club celebrates its 69th anniversary.

The founder, first coach, and pioneer of rhythmic gymnastics in Gdynia was Janina Lewandowska - a highly decorated coach and three-time recipient of the Coast Coach of the Year award (1979, 1980, 1981).

The club’s beginnings date back to 1957, when the section operated at MDK Gdynia. In the following years, gymnasts represented clubs such as KS Tęcza Gdynia and later trained within the structures of the Youth Palace and the Inter-School Sports Club.

In 1994, the club underwent reorganization and relocation. From 1995, training took place at Primary School No. 14 in Gdynia, and from 1997, gymnasts combined education with a sport-adapted training system.

Since 1999, the club has operated under the name SGA Gdynia, which it retains to this day.
